A sail all white had sought
My soul out for a shore
Secluded, where no one
Had ever been before.
The sun was high and so
Were too the cliffs behind
The shore; their shadows fresh
And gentle waters ‘round.
It dropped its anchor deep,
Its canvas folded down
To find its due relief
So long a cruise had gone
I know the rest will not
Last long, and cruise and wind
Will drive it far away
Again. But let the dream
Of peace last, oh, at least
Tonight. The huge white sail
Tomorrow stately melt
Will be with all the great
White sea.
